Description
Isimila is a historical site located almost 21 kilometers (km) southeast of Iringa town. It has a unique artefact in both primary and secondary contexts consisting of thousands of hand axes - including enigmatic giant hand axes; and a brilliant records of the terminal Acheulian technology scattered in the exposed northeastern Korongo (erosion gulley). It provides the discovery of stone age tools believed to exist from 300 000 to 400 000 years BC. Tools found in Isimila canyon that are divided into two which include spears and slingshot that were used for hunting, the second canyon has amazing pillars.
